The Van Der Merwe New Life Program is ECAHLI's community assistance pathway — a structured route into full ECAHLI membership for individuals and families who demonstrate extraordinary alignment with ECAHLI's values, a genuine need for a fresh start, and the character and commitment to contribute meaningfully to the community.

This is not charity. This is recognition. ECAHLI was built on the belief that ability, character and purpose matter more than financial position. The Van Der Merwe New Life Program recognises people who have the qualities ECAHLI needs — and creates a pathway for them, regardless of their current financial situation.

Successful applicants enter through a structured assessment, community interview and 12-month probationary period. On successful completion, they receive full Active Membership — identical in every way to a buy-in member — including residential rights, salary, bonuses, co-ownership and equal democratic voice.

The Apprentice Program is ECAHLI's standard application pathway. Apply, demonstrate your values and skills, complete a 2-week probationary period and community vote, then begin a 12-month paid apprenticeship — with full community benefits from day one. On successful completion, you become a full Active Member with equal co-ownership for life.
