ECAHLI LiveLab is a 20-hectare, off-grid, self-sufficient community where 20 families own the land, the homes, and every business inside it together — not as tenants, not as customers, as owners. This is the ECAHLI movement, made small enough to walk into.
Most people who want a different way of living never get to choose it. The land is too expensive to buy alone. The systems — energy, food, healthcare, income — are too complex to build alone. ECAHLI LiveLab removes "alone" from the equation. Twenty families, one piece of land, one shared business engine underneath everyone's home — housing, food, income, healthcare and community, engineered to hold each other up instead of each family carrying it all separately. This is the first proof of the model ECAHLI is built on, made real, on the ground, in Paraguay — before it scales to the larger ECAHLI Nodes.
An hour or less from Asunción, in the green heart of Paraguay's most fertile department — chosen deliberately as the first place to prove this model works.
Cordillera is one of Paraguay's most storied departments — home to Lake Ypacaraí, the waterfalls of Piribebuy and Chololó, and rolling, forested hills that have made it a retreat for Asunceños for generations. It's close enough to the capital to stay connected, and far enough to feel like a genuine escape.
The climate is subtropical, with two clear seasons. Winters (roughly May–August) are mild, averaging around 17°C, while summers (October–March) are warm and can climb well into the 40s°C on peak days. It's a climate suited to exactly what LiveLab is built to do: grow food year-round, generate off-grid energy reliably, and support a community that sustains itself without extremes working against it.
This is why it's the right place to prove the model before ECAHLI takes it further across Latin America.
Twenty identical 128 m² homes, designed for comfort and privacy while staying woven into the community around them.

Agriculture, food processing, manufacturing and retail — engineered as one interconnected system that feeds, employs, and sustains every member.

Year-round vegetable production alongside permaculture gardens and orchards — food security built into the land itself.

Household, hygiene and healthcare products made on-site — skills, income and self-reliance in one workshop.

Freeze-dried produce, preserved meats, cheese and yoghurt — community-made products sold externally for shared income.

Community-raised livestock processed on-site — meat, cheese and dairy for the community table and for sale.

Cows, goats, chickens and sheep, raised for the community and for market — real, working, shared agriculture.

Shared recreation, a natural swimming pool, communal dining and gathering spaces — the social heart of LiveLab.

ECAHLI is building a new kind of sustainable, self-sufficient community — and every $50 you give toward that effort enters you and your family into a draw for a fully-owned Family Portfolio membership in our first LiveLab community in Paraguay. The more you support us, the bigger your chance of joining us — additional entries multiply your odds. One winner. A real home, a real stake, a real chance to be part of something the world hasn't seen before. Be part of the ECAHLI movement. Let's do the impossible — together.
Nothing on this page constitutes an offer, solicitation, or invitation to invest, nor financial, legal, immigration or tax advice. ECAHLI LiveLab is a pre-development project; no homes are yet built and no community is yet operational. Membership, ownership structure, benefits and pricing described above are subject to formal legal documentation, independent legal review, and applicable law in Paraguay and the member's own jurisdiction.
Members are added into a Paraguay-registered legal entity through which the community's land, buildings and business interests are held, with each member's equal ownership share formalised within that structure ahead of any binding agreement. Immigration and relocation support is provided through independent immigration counsel in Paraguay; translation support is available for members throughout the process.
The support draw described above is intended to be offered in multiple countries, including the UK, Ireland, Latvia, the Netherlands, the USA and Canada, among others. However it is described — as a "gift," "support," or "entry" — lottery, raffle and gaming laws generally apply based on substance rather than wording, and these laws vary significantly by country and by region within countries. The draw is subject to registration and compliance with applicable regulations in Paraguay and in each jurisdiction from which contributions are made, and may not be available, or may be structured differently, in every region. Void where prohibited by law. Full draw terms, eligibility by country, and entry limits will be published and provided before you contribute.

Paraguay taxes only Paraguay-sourced income. Income earned outside the country is generally not taxed here, for residents and citizens alike.
Where local income tax applies, personal rates are generally around 8–10%, with no wealth, inheritance or gift taxes.
Standard residency runs through a temporary permit followed by permanent status after a qualifying period; dedicated investor routes can move faster. Requirements have been tightening, so current rules should always be confirmed with counsel.
As a Mercosur member, Paraguayan residency brings simplified movement and residency rights across Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay and associate states.
A birth certificate, marriage certificate if applicable, and a clean criminal record certificate — apostilled and translated into Spanish. LiveLab's immigration counsel guides members through this step by step.
Standard residency pathways generally extend to a spouse and dependent children under the same application.
Tax and immigration rules change, and individual circumstances vary significantly. The information above is general and provided for orientation only — it is not tax or legal advice. Every member is encouraged to confirm current requirements with independent legal and tax counsel, which LiveLab helps arrange as part of your relocation support.
The honest answers to what most people ask before joining a community like this.
Each member is added into the Paraguay-registered legal entity that holds the LiveLab's land, buildings and business interests, with an equal ownership share formalised in that structure. This is a real ownership stake in a collective enterprise, not a lease or a timeshare — full details are set out in your formal membership agreement before you commit.
No. LiveLab is open to members relocating from anywhere in the world. Independent immigration counsel in Paraguay assists members with the relevant residency and relocation process, and translators are available throughout, so language is not a barrier to joining.
Paraguay's residency process is generally considered straightforward compared to many countries, and your membership includes access to immigration legal support and temporary accommodation while the project is being developed, so you're not navigating the move alone.
Paraguay has a subtropical climate with two clear seasons. Winters (May–August) are mild, averaging around 17°C, while summers (October–March) are warm and can climb well into the 40s°C on peak days. Cordillera specifically sees moderate, fairly consistent rainfall through the year, which is part of why it supports the agriculture LiveLab is built around.
The community is designed around a small on-site school and training centre offering early education alongside vocational and sustainability-focused learning. Families relocating with children are supported through the same integration and language-development programs available to all members.
Paraguay is warm, family-oriented and relatively unhurried compared to many Western countries, with a strong tradition of community and hospitality — values that align closely with what LiveLab is built to be. Members are supported with language development so the transition into local culture and community life feels natural rather than isolating.
Both, structured honestly as both. It's a real home you and your family live in, and a real ownership stake in the community's shared businesses. It is not a short-term financial investment vehicle, and nothing on this page should be read as a promise of financial return — please see the legal notice above.
Membership begins with a deposit to reserve your place, with the remaining balance payable over an agreed term. Use the calculator above for an illustrative estimate — your actual deposit percentage, term and schedule are confirmed in your formal membership agreement.
Because membership involves a real ownership share in a legal entity, any exit, transfer or resale of a membership is governed by the terms of that entity's governing documents. This will be explained clearly to you before you commit, so you know exactly where you stand from day one.
Paraguay operates on a territorial tax system, meaning income earned outside Paraguay is generally not taxed here, while local rates on Paraguay-sourced income are relatively modest, with no wealth, inheritance or gift taxes. Rules and individual circumstances vary, so this is general orientation only — LiveLab helps connect members with independent tax counsel to confirm exactly how this applies to you.
A $50 contribution supports the LiveLab community and enters you and your family into a draw for one Family Portfolio membership (a fully furnished 2-bedroom home and equal ownership share). Additional entries increase your chances. Availability, entry limits and rules vary by country in line with local lottery and gaming regulations — full terms are provided before you contribute.
