The ECAHLI Community Handbook

Your Rights.
Governed & Protected.

The ECAHLI Community Handbook is the governing reference for life inside every community node. It is more than a rulebook — it is a covenant between residents, the Foundation, and the wider communities we are embedded in.

The Handbook enshrines human rights, family rights, and children's rights for every resident. It protects animal welfare and environmental standards as non-negotiable principles, and defines how the Community Council operates, how decisions are made, and how disputes are resolved. Every resident — Active or Inactive — is protected equally from their first day in the community.

The One-Line Definition

The Community Handbook is the constitution of daily life inside every ECAHLI node — protecting every resident's rights, defining how decisions are made, and ensuring the community is governed fairly and transparently for generations.

ECAHLI School Courtyard
What the Handbook Guarantees
  • Safety, dignity, and respect for every resident and family member.
  • Transparent rules, fair processes, and consistent application across all nodes.
  • Community participation channels — assemblies, council, and standing committees.
  • Protection of children's rights and access to education at every stage of life.
  • Animal welfare and environmental stewardship as community obligations.
  • A defined dispute resolution pathway accessible to all residents.
  • The right to retire in your community home under Inactive residency status.
Residency Status

Active & Inactive Residents.
Same Community. Clear Roles.

Every person who lives in an ECAHLI community is a resident. Your status — Active or Inactive — defines your economic relationship with the community, not your right to belong to it. Both statuses carry real benefits and real protections.

Active Resident
Working Members of the Community

Active Residents are employed within the ECAHLI economic ecosystem. They hold full community rights and receive a comprehensive benefit package in exchange for their contribution to the node's operations and governance.

Benefits Included
  • Full salary for work performed within the ECAHLI node.
  • Free eco-home — no rent, no mortgage, no debt on your home while residency conditions are met.
  • Free daily meals from community dining.
  • Free education for all dependants — school-age through TVET and adult learning.
  • Free general healthcare for resident and immediate family.
  • Free training in eco-technologies, systems, and vocational skills.
  • Built-in retirement plan within the ECAHLI structure.
  • No service fees or utility bills — core services fully included.
  • Community voting rights and eligibility for Council elections.
  • Return on investment linked to your initial membership buy-in.
Responsibilities
  • Work within the ECAHLI ecosystem — 5-hour core workday.
  • Participate in community meetings, governance, and stewardship roles.
  • Uphold the Community Handbook and help protect all resident rights.
Inactive Resident
Non-Working & Retired Members

Inactive Residents — including retirees — continue to live in the community and receive nearly all benefits. Their economic relationship with the node differs: they contribute through a monthly service fee rather than active employment.

Benefits Included
  • Free eco-home — no rent, no debt while residency conditions are met.
  • Free daily meals from community dining.
  • Free education for all dependants.
  • Free general healthcare for resident and immediate family.
  • Free access to training and development courses (optional).
  • Retirement plan for qualifying retired members.
  • Full access to all community amenities and social life.
Key Differences vs Active
  • No salary payments from the ECAHLI node.
  • No community voting rights or Council election participation.
  • Monthly service fee of USD 800 covering shared services and infrastructure.
For retirees: Retired members move to Inactive status automatically. They keep their home and all listed benefits, pay the monthly service fee, and may hold advisory roles — but carry no formal vote in community governance decisions.

Daily Life as an Active Resident

Everything a Resident
Actually Needs.

Governance & Stewardship

Community Council &
Resident Stewardship.

Residents are the stewards of the affordable housing village and surrounding land — operating under the oversight of ECAHLI Global Holdings to ensure every node fulfils its social and ecological mission across generations.

🏛️
Community Council

The Community Council is composed of elected Active Residents serving defined terms, with recall rules ensuring ongoing accountability. It works alongside professional management to guide community priorities, oversee projects and budgets, and ensure the Handbook is applied consistently. Transparent meeting records are shared with all residents.

🌱
Environmental Stewardship

Every resident plays a role in protecting and improving the land, water, and ecosystems that sustain the community. Environmental stewardship committees manage water, waste, and energy systems. Residents coordinate land care, regenerative agriculture, and conservation zones. All residents — Active or Inactive — may join committees.

🤝
Humanitarian Action

ECAHLI communities extend beyond their own borders. Resident-led programmes support vulnerable neighbouring households. Environmental clean-up and reforestation drives engage residents and the wider community. Youth mentorship and skills-sharing extend ECAHLI's reach outward. New families are welcomed through a structured integration and orientation process.

Who Residency Is For

One Community.
A Place for Everyone Inside It.

ECAHLI communities are built for people — not as an abstract social mission, but as a genuinely inclusive place where families, workers, retirees, and young people can all build a complete life inside one governed, walkable community.

🏡
Families & Couples
A Dignified Home — With Everything Around It

An eco-home with no rent and no debt, in a community where healthcare is on the doorstep, your children's education is inside the node, fresh food is grown locally, and every street is safe and governed. The security of belonging — not the precarity of an informal settlement or an unaffordable urban rental market.

💼
Workers & Young Adults
A Real Career — Without Leaving Your Community

Permanent employment inside the node across agriculture, healthcare, manufacturing, logistics, education, and services. TVET training aligned directly to those roles — on-site, at no cost. A career path and a community life in the same place, without the need to migrate, separate from family, or give up your roots to find real opportunity.

🧓
Retirees & Older Residents
Retire in Your Community — Supported and Secure

Active Residents automatically move to Inactive status upon retirement — keeping their home, their meals, their healthcare, and full access to community life. The service fee of USD 800 per month covers shared services and infrastructure. Advisory roles remain available for those who wish to stay involved. Retirement in an ECAHLI community means security, community, and dignity — not isolation.

🌍
Diaspora & Returning Residents
Come Home — to a Community That Was Built for You

ECAHLI communities are designed for people who want to live well in the regions they come from — not just those forced to stay by circumstance. Diaspora members and returning residents can find genuine opportunity, dignity, healthcare, education for their children, and a stable home — without the compromises of urban migration or the isolation of returning to under-served rural areas.

"

We did not build ECAHLI communities to house people. We built them so that people could build complete lives — work, family, health, community, and dignity — all inside one place they can genuinely call home.
